چکیده

Among satellite systems, low earth orbit (LEO) satellite system will make an important role in new fiture communication services, because of its less propagation delay, less power consumption in the user terminal and the satellites, and efficient spectrum utilization using smaller coverage area for each satellite than geostationa y (GEO) counterpart. However, a number of mobility problems that did not exist in GEO satellite systems should be solved. One noticeable mobility problem is the spotbeam handover which occurs most frequently in LEO satellite systems. The frequent spotbeam handover requires a technique to decrease handover blocking probability. In this paper, an adaptive dynamic channel allocation (ADCA) scheme is introduced for LEO satellite networks. The ADCA scheme estimates the future number of handover events based on the user location database, and reserves corresponding number of channels in order to decrease the overall handover blocking probabilities. Performance evaluation shows that the handover blocking probabilities of ADCA technique substantially decrease in comparison with the other channel allocation schemes. A New Connection Admission Control for Spotbeam Handover in LEO Satellite Networks

Frequent spotbeam handovers in low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks require a technique to decrease the handover blocking probabilities. A large variety of schemes have been proposed to achieve this goal in terrestrial mobile cellular networks. Most of them focus on the notion of prioritized channel allocation algorithms. However, these schemes cannot provide the connection-level quality of...

A new spotbeam handover management technique for LEO satellite networks

AbstmctThe geographical connection admission control (GCAC) algorithm is introduced for low earth orbit LEO) satellite networks. The GCAC scheme estimates the L u r e handover blocking probability of a new call attempt based on the user location database, in order to decrease the handover blocking. By simulation, it is shown that the proposed GCAC scheme guarantees the handover blocking probabi...

Adaptive Channel Reservation Scheme

Due to the high mobility of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites, there is a significant number of handover attempts in a LEO satellite mobile communication system, causing a high handover failure rate. This paper proposes an Adaptive Channel Reservation Scheme (ACRS) which gives an overall optimal success rate for both handover and new call initialisation. ACRS is able to adapt to the local traffi...
